  1. Berkhamsted Squash Club hosted a charity fundraising event on Friday 29th July in aid of little Luna Petagine, a four-year-old girl from Watford who is suffering from an Ependymoma brain tumour– a rare form of cancer.

Gary joined the team of Squash legend Peter Nicol, England National Coach Paul Carter, and Berkhamsted's own PSA Professional Adam Fuller for an exclusive day of top class Squash coaching for the 16 lucky participants, bringing their years of experience to bear on a raft of Technique, Tactical, and Matchplay advice, rounded off with a workshop and practical session by Gary on Physical Conditioning & Preparation for Squash. There was further world class entertainment in the evening when World No.1 Nick Matthew took on British Champion Daryl Selby in a special exhibition challenge match.

A great day was had by all, and most importantly several thousand pounds were raised for Luna's treatment. For more about Luna, visit www.lunapetagine.co.uk

  2. Gary will be appearing at The Big Bang: UK Young Scientists & Engineers Fair on Thursday 10th and Friday 11th March on behalf of Wycombe Wanderers FC and The Football League, to present a workshop on the role of Science in Football.

Involving over 110 organisations from across the private, public and voluntary sectors, and reaching out to schools and students across the country, The Big Bang represents a true partnership of the UK’s science and engineering communities. The event is led by EngineeringUK in partnership with the British Science Association, the Institute of Physics, the Science Council, the Royal Academy of Engineering, and Young Engineers. The Department for Business, Innovation and Skills, and the Department for Education both provide significant support along with a large number of sponsors from industry. Last year's Big Bang event in Manchester, drew over 22,000 people.

The Big Bang 2011 will take place at ICC London ExCeL from 10 – 12 March, when 25,000 people are expected to attend.  The headline shows will include Sky 1’s Brainiac Live!,  BBC’s Bang Goes the Theory, and The Lloyd’s Register Educational Trust’s Alphabeat show.  The Fair will also feature BBC’s Wallace & Gromit ‘World of Invention’ roadshow.
